A two-episode retelling of one remarkable Helston resident

UNTOLD: Helston’s Unexpected Stories will reimagine how we tell the story of historic Helston. Through respectful research conducted by the team at the Museum of Cornish Life, we are discovering unexpected, surprising and remarkable stories from those at rest in the historic section of Helston Cemetery.
In a unique approach to storytelling, we'll select one extraordinary life and present it as two interconnected live performances. The first act, staged on 26 February at the Museum of Cornish Life, will share with the audience our Helstonian's childhood and early life. The second act, performed on 27 February at Helston Old Chapel, will tell the story of their later life and death.
Professional theatre-makers will collaborate to create an intimate and engaging live event of this discovered life from long ago.
This innovative project marks the beginning of a wider initiative to share more unexpected stories within our community's heritage, creating surprising connections between past and present Helstonians.
This project has received funding from Cornwall Council's Community Levelling Up Programme from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund as well as from FEAST; FEAST is a programme to make great art happen across Cornwall, investment for FEAST comes from Arts Council England and Cornwall Council.

To try and make the work that Trevow Helston programmes as accessible as possible we are offering three ticket prices for the show and a free ticket draw. Please book the ticket that reflects what you can afford right now. You won't be asked any questions and your ticket options won't be shared with anyone.

Due to the nature of the event, latecomers cannot be admitted.
We estimate a run time of approximately 30-45 minutes without an interval.
Our performances may be filmed or photographed and the material may be used by Trevow Helston or the Museum of Cornish Life at any time for evaluation, promotion or other projects. Please be aware that it is the ticket buyer's responsibility to inform members of their party that this will be happening.
Tickets are non-refundable.

Helston Old Chapel, Meneage Road, Helston, TR13 8BH
There is a large pay and display car park opposite the Helston Medical Centre, Trelawney Rd, Helston TR13 8AU. This is a 5-10 minute walk away. It is possible to drop-off and pick-up immediately outside the chapel building.
There is level access from the tarmac path into the side door of the chapel. There is space inside the chapel for wheelchairs. The seating will be on pews. If we can support you at our event in other ways please contact us on [email protected]
A small pop-up bar will be available at this event. Card payments only.
We currently have limited facilities at our new venue. Please be aware that we will be using an accessible portaloo for this event.
