XENOLALIA : Moulettes

Music for Strings • Electric • A Cappella • Electronic • Horns

“Moulettes don’t fit easily into any musical category. Prog folk & psych-folk with added classical & rock influences. Immaculate & thrilling female harmony vocals and unexpected instrumentation. This is a compelling and original band.” - The Guardian

Radical…A charismatic & revolutionary approach to songwriting” - Louder Than War

Moulettes have a reputation as outliers, breaking new ground with every album & enthralling classical, folk and indie audiences alike. Xenolalia is their most ambitious project yet - 11 songs re-imagined 5 ways with 5 different ensembles : A Cappella, Electric, Strings, Electronic & Horns.

The result is 55 completely individual songs & instrumentals that range from sublime folk & classically-edged string quintets to big-riff electric anthems, through cinematic moods & dramatic orchestrations, lush 5-part harmony choral pieces, dance floor bangers & big brass band party energy. It’s a musical kaleidoscope and the culmination of their adventures in composition, experimentation and collaboration, a view into a singular & fascinating ecosystem.

This concert is the climax of this extraordinary project, a spectacular multi-ensemble one-off show at the Minack Theatre.

Bringing together 18 unbelievably talented singers & multi-instrumentalists to present to you highlights from across the project, this performance will take you through all of the musical landscapes of Xenolalia alongside reimagined old favourites. It’s a delicious taster session, a banquet of musical delights, a Best-Of.

Expect an orchestra like no other, in a venue like no other.
