The Cornish Bank is travelling down to us from Falmouth, presenting Gwenno, with support from Daisy Rickman.
Much loved Welsh chanteuse and electronic producer Gwenno’s unique voice and spiritual production provide a beautiful and psychedelically tinged soundscape. Her sounds range from Venice to Vienna, layering cultural and historical atmospheres and searching for meaning in natural landscapes, passing seasons and the domestic sphere.
Gwenno’s latest album, Tresor, is the first ever Cornish-language record to be shortlisted for the Mercury Prize. It is a resplendent body of work, a tapestry woven from fine threads of history, folklore, and her own life. Into this she has sewn together patches of psych-rock, indie, chamber pop and Breton folk.
Combined with the stunning Porthcurno backdrop, this is a magical pairing sure to make an unforgettable experience for all.
Daisy Rickman is one of Cornwall’s most exciting new artists, Her voice and guitar playing at times have the ghostly echoes of Nick Drake and Sandy Denny, with both an ethereal touch and dark undercurrent. Merging realms of Folk and Psychedelia, her music transmutes something between both an ode to her homeland and to the cosmos that holds her.
